36 Years of St. Martins Panthers
Basketball Club

A Legacy in Motion

In the heart of the Macleod local sports scene, one name has become synonymous with community, commitment, and competition: St. Martins Panthers Basketball Club. Founded 36 years ago, in 1989, the club began as a modest group of passionate families united by a shared love for the game. Today, it stands as a cornerstone of the Macleod basketball community, with a rich legacy of friendship, teamwork community and sporting excellence.

The Panthers’ journey began in the late 1980s, a time when basketball was gaining momentum in schools and community centers across the region. A small group of parents, came together with a vision: to create a club where young people could develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of team sport. Local school children developed a fierce logo and Panthers was created.

Today the club continues to grow and flourish under the same philosophy as it did all those years ago. Creating a platform for children to reach their full potential through community sport and build long term relationships and mateship with teammates.

Many former players return with their own children and carry on the panthers tradition. As new generations step onto the court, they carry with them the legacy of those who came before—players, coaches, and volunteers who gave their time, heart, and hustle to build something bigger than basketball and write the next chapter in a story that’s still being written, one bounce at a time.
